My best friend and I are heading downstate on a road trip for the next few days and I will not be taking the internet with me. So be nice to each other and enjoy this guest post about a speed dating event from a fellow blog reader. See you all Monday ish.
Interested in attending a speed dating event to explore your options for meeting someone but unsure what to expect? Then read on for tips and suggestions on what to do, what to wear, and how to act during a speed date. Speed dating was first created in the 90's for people who wanted to meet a lot of singles in a short period of time. The length of time spent with each of the people you meet at a speed dating event is determined by the organizers. Some companies have the length of going speed dating on your own baked into their business name such as Eight Minute Dateswhereas others use the number of people such as 25 Dates. Most speed dating companies range from three to ten minutes per date, with the entire evening's dates lasting approximately two or three hours. Some speed dating companies also offer mixers before and after the speed dating event. Several studies, including one called Mate Preferences in Action Kurzban, have discovered that most people who attend speed dating events have decided whether or not they are interested in the person sitting across the table from them within three seconds of sitting down.
Speed Dating is ideal for you if you lead a busy life, and want to meet new people in a fun, safe environment. Four minutes per date is the perfect amount of time enabling you to meet numerous other like-minded single's in one night. Speed Dating for 4 minutes each allows you to get to know someone briefly, everyone is there to meet other people - just like you. You have just enough time with each person to decide whether or not you would like to progress the conversation. The minimum bookings we have are 10 of each gender, most events exceed this number.

More about going speed dating on your own:
Writing this story about dating I realised how much of our lives revolve around being online, I mean for many singles the first interactions they have with a potential partner is through an online service, there are emails, that turn into instant messages, that move to SMS. Then and only then it might become a phone call, and oh my, the pain of actually having to meet someone! So, back to the issues I see with online versus offline. There has to be a better way, right? When you lay it out like that speed dating makes sense.
Speed Dating is an event for single people to meet face-to-face with like-minded people, to spark conversations with and possible romance. Upon arrival at one of our Speed Dating events, you will be greeted by our friendly hosts who will check you in. Your host will give a welcome speech to let you know what to expect throughout the evening. Once the dating part begins, the ladies will be seated at their allocated table. The men will start with the corresponding number. After four minutes, the bell will be rung; and all the girls will stay seated and all the guys will move round. Between each date we allow a little time for you to make your notes on your dates using your Speeding Ticket. The events will continue with a fifteen to twenty minute half time break until you have met everyone there. At Speed Dating, everyone is there to meet other people - just like you. You have just enough time with each person to decide whether or not you like them - you only get given each other's contact information if you both agree and consent to this.
